SOCCER GRADUATION

By: Shanz Ballares

“It’s been a big part of our college life to be in sports.—to be in CSSP SOCCER TEAM” says graduating sports minded students who once became the University Champions.
It was School Year 2006-2007 when soccer women division was included in categories for BU Olympics. It is also the same S.Y when CSSP SOCCER TEAM women division became the University Champion. After having no practice at all, the self and team confidence, blessed by the sacred short team prayer traditionally led by the team prayer master “Mimay”, gives the good luck and helps the team won in every game.
Our first game was CSSP vs. IPESR. It’s been very hard game to won since IPESR majors in field of sports. But luckily after the goal to goal facing, the score of 1 vs. 0 favors the CSSP to won. “The feeling is just like falling from the plane without any parachute and yet we found ourselves alive”, Shanz says, the team keeper. The challenges continue, the next team opponent was C.E and… “WOW”!!! It is surprising that winning the game is even harder than the first one. “This was the game that we earned cramps, bruises, tamblings, hematoma and severe body pain as product of this sport”, team captain Guades reveals. The CSSP got 1 point and C.E got 0. It gives the team its 2nd win. Afterwards, third opponent came. It our neighbor college, the CBEM. This was the game that player slightly relax and rest themselves from pressure.
The score of 6 vs. 2 in favor of CSSP team places them in position of WAITING for the CHAMPIONSHIP game. The last but not the least game arrives, the championship. And the lucky team that faced them was their 1st opponent, the IPESR Delegates. “When we entered the court and the game begun. Its like a magic that it heals all the pains”, Telai said. Both teams did there best, but there must be only one champion, and it has been our team. “The CSSP”!! The score have been 1 vs. 0 in favor of CSSP.
It’s the happy story of becoming the champion. But as old man says, Life is like a wheel, now we may on top, but tomorrow may not. Hehehe… here’s the next story.
The next BU Olympic had come. Its now 2007-2008. The same year of team’s 8 members upcoming graduation, was also the year of the team’s 1st painful experience of loosing. Our team actually successfully won its first and second games. The games of CSSP vs. CENG and CSSP vs. C.E. It was the third game and supposedly the chance for the team to be again place in WAITING for CHAMPIONSHIP game when our team was unluckily lost in the hand of Polangui Campus. Ouch…Why??? Let’s flash back…ZOOMM…(Continued to page 11)
It was an intrams victory ball in CSSP. The senior team won, us, and we happily posed in front of the stage for pictorials. When one of our best forward players “Jho” accidentally fall from the stage and she got a hand fracture and ankle joint dislocation. That injury made her unable to play during BU Olympics. This was a great loss in our team and one big factor for loosing. This just shows the importance of everyone in the team.
That’s the sad story. “Anyway, we will not be graduating as a looser. Our team earned a very good jamming and friendship that keeps us a happy team and makes us always feel champion” said Barbs.
Anyway, don’t you know that 7 in CSSP SOCCER TEAM were BAPS? They’re Barbara Czarina Nuyte (defender), Maureen Eva Vera (defender), Rommelie Guiriba (defender), Otelia Olimpo (defender), Mary Anne Guades (forward) and yours truly, Shahani Ballares (goal keeper). We maybe a butterfly but we stings like a bee, we are champions!
